Taking the mythology out of partnerships - a view from the ground up - BPD Classic Hit Series paper II

In this short document we explore a spectrum of views on partnerships and seek to unpack some popular myths.

BPD has also recently published its evaluation of the Mi Escuela Saludable SWASH+ (School Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene
Plus Community Impact) initiative developed by the Millennium Water Alliance. The programme targeted 150 rural public schools in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua and was executed by CARE, Catholic Relief Services and Water for People on behalf of IDB between March 2010 and July 2011. The evaluation focuses on two lines of inquiry: Partnership processes and programme results.

UK Sanitation Community of Practice (SanCop) event and paper

The theme at the 12th SanCop event on Friday 19th April at UCL was 'how better planning and risk assessment can help the sanitation sector minimise system failures and their associated impacts on environmental health'. The day was very engaging, with lively debates, and over 40 participants took part. The presentations are now available and the synopsis will be published soon. The theme followed on from the last event on 'learning from failure in sanitation' - about which a paper has now been published.

Learning series for WSUP

BPD has worked closely with WSUP to extract learning on four key themes in water and sanitation delivery, from six projects under the USAID-funded African Cities for the Future Program. The themes are land tenure, community engagement, contracting small-scale entrepreneurs and hybrid management models. Papers have now been published on all four themes, giving an overview of these areas and offering practical guidance for programme managers.
